Facebook is finally bringing a feature that may help you mute that annoying friend for 30 days. The feature which was a much needed one let’s anyone mute or “Snooze” a friend or a page for 30 days.
The new feature will not only save you from the frequent posts but also lets you take a break from your friend’s vacation photos.
“Over the next week, we’re launching Snooze, which will give you the option to temporarily unfollow a person, Page or group for 30 days,” said Shruthi Muraleedharan, Product Manager at Facebook in an announcement post.
Users can select Snooze option from the top-right drop-down menu of a post and then, you won’t see content from those people or pages or even groups in your News Feed for 30 days.
The social giant says that the ‘Snooze’ feature has been introduced after feedback from the users as they wanted more options to determine what they see in News Feed and when they see it. One of the best things about Snooze is that it lets you mute friends without tapping on options like unfollow or unfriend permanently. One of the biggest highlight of the new ‘Snooze’ option is that the people, Pages, and groups you snooze will not be notified.
Facebook making sure that you are aware about the people you snoozed will notify you before the Snooze period is about to end and the setting can also be reserved at any time.
The social giant also talks about some of the other features that are already available to users for enjoying the experience of using Facebook. Features like Unfollow, Hide, Report and See First lets users tailor their News Feed experience.
The new Facebook feature comes at a time when many former colleagues are questioning the social platform’s capability to “rip apart social properties.”
